a little before & after

I've had this little side table put aside to refinish ...
(did I mention for quite sometime)

Just wasn't quite sure which way I wanted to go.
To strip with a natural hand rubbed finish
or maybe paint,
if paint then which version
oil based, latex or chalk.
Ugh...

I'd been wanting to try the DIY version of chalk paint and
this seemed liked the perfect project.
So chalk paint it was.

Simply a sample pot of paint & some plaster of paris.

has a great post on creating your own.

I added just enough water to make the mixture suitable for my sprayer
and...

This is the results!

It dries quickly,
so it's quite easy to finish a project in a matter of a few hours!
I'm pleased the way it turned out

What do you think?

Next I think I'm going to try DIY milk paint.

The Exposed Deconstructed Collection

As soon as I seen this it reminded of a blog post of Sweet Pea Home

the New Year an unwritten page..

Another year lies before us like
an unwritten page, an unspent coin, an unwalked road.
How the pages will read,
what treasures will be gained in exchange for time,
or what we find along the way,
will largely depend on us. ~Esther Baldwin York

May you realize your fondest of dreams in the upcoming New Year!

CHEERS to each & everyone of you!!!

wishing that your stockings were filled.....

Several years ago a dear sweet lady who worked for me,
Ruth,
gave me this beautiful Lenox ornament
the Christmas before she retired

In the box was this lovely handwritten message,
every year as I decorate the tree,
and open this special ornament

It always fills my heart with such joy....

wishing that your holiday was filled with love, hope and good health

Grateful

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough,
and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow. ~Melody Beattie

Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Extravaganza finds

This past weed-end in Mount Dora, FL was the Renningers Antique Extravaganza,
a three day event that is held in November, January and February every year.
Located on 117 acres of scenic, rolling land, antique dealers come from all over selling their wares.
After participating in the Fancy Flea show the previous week-end and fighting a nasty bug all week
I truly was exhausted by Sunday afternoon, but it was so worth it!

this is my haul...

 chicken nesting box from Virginia
wouldn' this look great in a bathroom filled with big white fluffy towels
or perhaps a laundry room to hold all those supplies
5 foot long

chippy peely spindles

corbels

string dispenser from old hardware store
white tool box

rusty, crusty, chippy ceiling tins

school clock it still works perfectly

stainless marine binoculars
metal letters

a weakness of mine.. rosaries

old posts

basket from an antique french bicycle that folds flat

holy water basin from an old church

fabulous very heavy iron street sign from England

small oil painting

ironstone footed bowl
yes it has a crack but I love it anyway

The sad thing about doing what you love with all your heart, you can not keep it all.

Until next time, please enjoy the pictures
